The Role: Accounts Assistant (Part Time)

The Hours: 09:00 – 17:00 / Mon-Wed-Fri but can be flexible.

Location: Dorking – Relocating to Reigate

Salary: £19k – £23k Pro rata

My client is looking for a dynamic and innovative candidate to join our growing company based in Dorking. This is an exciting opportunity as it is a new position within the company, therefore the candidate will have the opportunity to set up and introduce new systems they may wish to introduce along with any procedures that would overall aid the business in running more efficiently.

Job role

  • Assist Financial Director with completing application forms for lenders where required
  • Receive incoming invoices
  • Monitor accounts email inbox
  • Check invoices received against agreements and raise queries where required
  • Assist Land Team with Budget Schedules, Project Costs, Quotations
  • Track, input, and update schedules
  • Raise invoices and track incoming payment
  • Collate and submit approved invoices to office manager for payment / you make payment
  • Prepare paperwork for VAT Returns and submit to accountants on SharePoint
  • Liaise with accountants regarding VAT / Corporation Tax / Year End Accounts other
  • Ability to use Xero software
  • Budget monitoring (financial forecast, budget vs actual, projected final costs)
  • Banking – paying in cheques, funds, making large payments, assist with account opening process, liaise with business banking manager
  • Scheduling appointments with lenders and managing important deadlines, such as loan expiry dates
  • Chasing lenders for mortgage statements
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records
  • Completing daily / weekly / monthly bank reconciliations
  • Monitoring direct debits across all bank accounts
  • Ensuring payments, amounts and records are correct
  • Working with excel spreadsheets

Candidate requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will have experience in an account setting, preferably in construction and property (but not essential)
  • Highly organised approach with high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge of Xero and SharePoint
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Must be flexible to carry out a variety of duties with a responsive approach to tasking
  • An engaging and ‘can-do’ attitude with a sense of humour and willingness to take initiative
  • Clear, strong communicator with fluent written and spoken English
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and commercial matters with utmost confidentiality
  • Adept at time management and prioritisation of workload
  • Comfortable working under pressure of deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, able to engage effectively with all stakeholders
  • Proactive team worker and self-motivated
  • Valid UK driving licence.
